The Disappearance of Jared Hanna
28 year old Jared Hanna was last seen at his home in Jerseyville, Illinois on July 2, 2011. His truck was found abandoned and out of gas a few days later in a rural part of Centralia.
Disappearance
On the morning of July 2, 2011, Jared Hanna was last seen by his sister at his residence in Jerseyville, Illinois. He was captured on surveillance video purchasing a soda around 11:45 am.
At 12:15 pm his cell phone pinged in East Alton. At 9:30 pm it pinged around Centralia. At that point his phone either died or was shut off.
On July 4, 2011, Jared’s truck, a white 1990 GM Sierra, was found abandoned and out of gas on Jolliff Bridge Road, in a rural part of Centralia, Illinois. The location is about 70 miles away from his home.
A tackle box and fishing pole were found in the back of the truck, so it’s believed he was in the area to go fishing when he ran out of gas.
Two witnesses recall seeing him in the area. One witness saw a man matching his description walking down the road around midnight, near where his truck was found.
The other witness says they believe it was Jared who knocked on their door at 8:30 am on July 3, 2011, asking for directions to town. That resident last saw him heading east toward Centralia.
Loved ones say it’s completely out of character for him to go missing for any period of time. Jared leaves behind two daughters.
Investigation
Several searches of the area were conducted, but no further clues as to his whereabouts were found.
In October 2011, a black shoulder bag was found under a deer stand, about 5 miles from where Jared’s truck was found. The bag contained Jared’s wallet, a cell phone, car parts, a video camera, tools, and clothes. No leads were uncovered from the bag, officials said.
Appearance
White male with brown hair and brown eyes. Jared stands 5’6-5’10 tall and weighs 190-200 pounds. He had a mustache and goatee at the time of his disappearance.
Jared has a scar on his back, scar on the left side of his head, and a scar on the heel of his right foot.
Clothing & Accessories:
Jared was last seen wearing a dark colored t-shirt, blue jeans shorts, white tennis shoes, a silver necklace with a cross, and possibly a Budweiser baseball cap.
