20 year old Matthew Ferris was last seen by his family in Des Moines, Iowa in February 1991. He was reported missing to the Des Moines Police Department on March 7, 1991.
Background
Matthew Ferris was born on November 15, 1970. He first disappeared from Des Moines on July 25, 1990, when he told his family he needed the day off to help a friend move.
His father later found a note from Matthew, in which he apologized for any pain his disappearance would cause his family. He returned home about one week later, seemingly frightened.
During the next six months, Matthew enrolled in Iowa State University and underwent psychiatric treatment for depression.
Disappearance
In February 1991, Matthew Ferris was last seen by his family in Des Moines, Iowa. His father states he seemed to be exhibiting manic behavior.
Matthew told his family he was heading out to the movies, but never returned.
Matthew then seemingly traveled to Custer State Park in South Dakota, driving a silver 1982 Pontiac, though his whereabouts after remain unknown. His family believes he may have traveled to that destination because he enjoyed Native American folklore.
On March 7, 1991, Matthew’s family officially reported him missing to the Des Moines Police Department.
Authorities state he may have headed to the West Coast.
Appearance
Matthew has blonde hair, blue eyes, stands 5’10 tall, and weighs 140 pounds.
